Interrupted

Part of Beyond Sight Studios photographic collection The Honored Dead exploring life, death, transformation, and the depth of our emotions. 
 
The Interrupted series was borne from tragedy when we discovered a mother opossum and her babies lying deceased in the road. As we gathered the poor creatures up and drove home, we had no idea what awaited..
 
We could feel the power of the moment. Palpable energy seemed to dance all around us as we lay the little ones out alongside their mother. Despair seemed to crowd the air. Mother and all ten of her babies were already gone. We could do nothing to bring life back into their tiny bodies.
 
What we could do was witness. We sat with them, pondering, opening ourselves up to the forces at work. Then we realized we could do more than witness... we could capture this moment and share it with others.
 
Inspiration filled us like a surge of pure energy. We arranged the flowers and grabbed the camera determined to capture what we could of this intense experience. The images you see are what followed. 
 
Tragic. Heart-wrenching. Raw. Dark. And yet, Beautiful. 
 
The Interrupted series demands to be seen and felt to the fullest. It asks you to strip away your layers and open yourself up to the same energies we mingled with on that day. 
 
Death is a doorway, another journey these poor souls embarked on together, as one. Though long dead, their fleeting lives sent a ripple out into our world. A ripple still being felt by many.
 
There is beauty in all things,  Interrupted asks you to keep looking until you find it.
